“JUMP & BUMP – Creating Shared Spaces”
Open Try-Outs on February, 6th + 7th 2024, 6:30pm

In their dance residency “JUMP & BUMP – Creating Shared Spaces” Anna-Carolin Weber, Tobias Kopka and their collaborating artist team test the choreographic possibilities of various virtual reality multiplayer settings. The aim is to work out concrete forms of interaction that enable four performers with VR glasses to create movement spaces together – without being able to look each other in the eye. Accompanied by Phillip Dittmann, Philip Kühn, René*e Reith and Helena Miko, they will work on the following questions during the three-week residency:

How do performers who wear VR headsets and cannot look each other in the eye dance, communicate and play with each other?

What choreographic possibilities arise from playing with virtual teleportation and physical dance movement? And how can the mistakes and shortcomings of the technology be reversed and Jump & Bump be used as a creative principle?
