Anna-Carolin Weber & Tobias Kopka at “Bühne Frei – Der Theater Dortmund Podcast“

Anna-Carolin Weber and Tobias Kopka were guests on the Dortmund Theater podcast. In episode 62, they talk to Linda Kamp about participation and co-creation in hybrid spaces.

“It’s not actually the case that we only ever move in one reality.” (Anna-Carolin Weber)

Performances in multiple realities at the same time? It’s possible!
In this episode, Linda visits the Academy for Theater and Digitality. Anna-Carolin Weber and Tobias Kopka are currently in a residency there, researching their project “We Are In This Together – New Sensations for Remote Audiences in VR and Dance Performances.”

The two are exploring how audiences can be digitally and interactively involved in artistic performances – whether on site or online. They are investigating how principles from the gaming world can activate audiences and turn them into genuine co-creators of the performances. Through interactive elements, the audience can influence the course and movement dynamics of the narrative and jointly shape the action on stage. The goal is equal, creative participation – even for the remote audience.

“Something happens to me […] that enriches me and sends me home with questions that affect me.” (Tobias Kopka)
