Darkness. A drawing floats weightlessly in the space in front of me: traces of an encounter we had danced together moments ago. The drawing glows disembodied in the blackness. Glowing traces that stand before me in arcs, waves, curves in space. I approach them. Run my hands through them. But I can’t see my hands, only the trace stands motionless in front of me as I slowly move around it, through it, with it. A moment ago we met, walked together, danced around each other, leaving these traces in virtual space – without being able to look each other in the eye.
The performative installation “I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE – Duets for One Head and Two Hands” invites the audience to a special dialogue without language between dance, virtual reality application, video projection, light installation and live sound. A performer wearing virtual reality glasses dances on a dance floor marked by a light installation. Nearby, a person in the audience draws something in the air with sweeping arm movements. Although the two people cannot look each other in the eye, they appear to be in contact with each other. They move towards each other, away from each other, around each other, engaging in a dialogue at the level of movement. What is their invisible connection?
