VR Dance Club is a Cologne-based collective creating immersive performances at the intersection of dance, movement, and digital technology.
Founded by choreographer Anna-Carolin Weber and curator Tobias Kopka, the group collaborates with artists, researchers, and technologists to explore how bodies and algorithms, perception and code, can move together.
Their performances and installations merge virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and choreography into shared experiences that invite audiences to participate, reflect, and connect.
Across stages, labs, and festivals, VR Dance Club experiments with new dramaturgies of presence — where motion data, light, and sound respond to human gestures in real time.
The collective’s works — including Hybrid Encounters, I Spy With My Little Eye, Beautiful Connection, We Are In This Together, and the upcoming The Future Is Us — have been developed in close exchange with partners from both the arts and research, including the Cologne Game Lab, TanzFaktur Köln, the Academy for Theatre and Digitality, and the Digital Co-Production Lab Dortmund.
Their work has received funding from Kunststiftung NRW, the City of Cologne, Land NRW, the NRW Kultursekretariat, and federal programmes such as tanz:digital — among others.
